Terms of Use

1. Operator

4est is operated by Uģis Karulis, an individual based in Latvia. Contact: support@4est.app.

2. What the service does

4est helps you record, remember, understand and revisit your own forest observations, mushroom findings, places and related context. Features may include capture, history, maps, saved spots, environmental context, decision support, navigation links, a mushroom catalog and account synchronization.

3. Outdoor and mushroom safety

4est is a memory and decision-support tool. It is not a substitute for professional mushroom identification, food-safety advice, local regulations, weather information, navigation judgment or responsible outdoor practice.

• Never eat a mushroom solely because of information, imagery, recognition output or a label in 4est.
• A past finding or recommendation does not mean mushrooms will be present again.
• Maps, GPS positions and routes can be inaccurate, incomplete or unsafe to reach.
• You are responsible for assessing terrain, weather, daylight, access rights, hunting activity and other hazards.
• Follow applicable laws, land-access rules, protected-area restrictions and foraging limits.

4. Accounts

If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping access to your device and authentication method secure. Sign in with Apple is the initial authentication method; supported methods may change later.

5. Your content

You retain ownership of photos, notes, locations and other content you create. You give 4est only the rights needed to store, process, synchronize, back up and display that content for you and to operate features you request.

6. Acceptable use

• Do not use the service unlawfully or interfere with the service or other systems.
• Do not attempt to access another person’s account or private data without authorization.
• Do not upload content you do not have the right to use.
• Do not use 4est as the sole basis for a decision where an error could cause serious harm.

7. Availability and changes

Features may change as 4est develops. Network-backed features can be unavailable because of connectivity, maintenance or third-party services. Local-first design reduces dependence on a live connection for ordinary use but does not make every feature permanently available offline.

8. No guarantee of outcomes

We do not guarantee that a suggested place will contain mushrooms, that environmental context is complete, that a location is accessible or safe, or that any mushroom information identifies a specimen correctly or establishes edibility.

9. Account deletion

You may use the deletion controls provided inside the released app. The Privacy Policy explains how cloud account data and private photos are handled when an account is deleted.

10. Liability and consumer rights

To the extent permitted by applicable law, 4est is provided without guarantees beyond rights that cannot legally be excluded. Nothing in these Terms removes mandatory consumer rights that apply to you.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Latvia, subject to any mandatory consumer protections or rights that apply in the country where you live.
