Useful answers, without making you dig.

4est is still evolving. These notes describe the stable product model; exact labels or screen positions may change before release.

01

Getting started

4est is centered on your own observations and places. Capture or import useful history, then let your map and timeline become more valuable over time.

02

Capturing an observation

Use the capture flow to record what you saw. Quick field entries can be refined later rather than forcing a long form outdoors.

03

Location permissions

Location can be important for remembering a finding. iOS controls this permission. If you deny or limit access, some location-aware features may be unavailable or require manual input.

04

Photos and backup

Photos you add can stay on your device and, when account sync is used, supported photos can also be backed up privately to 4est storage. They are not public.

05

Sync and account

The app is local-first. Cloud sync is designed to preserve supported account history and private media without making normal interaction depend on a live connection.

06

Offline behaviour

Core interaction is designed to remain useful with poor connectivity. Network-backed enrichment and sync can wait until a connection is available.

07

Changing languages

4est is designed with separate preferences for app language and mushroom/content language. Exact setting labels may change before release.

08

Deleting your account

Account deletion is designed to be initiated from inside the app. It removes the cloud account, private photos and user-linked synced history, subject only to data we must legally retain.

09

Exporting your data

The backend supports account export. The final in-app export flow will be documented when the release UI is locked.
